Review: Tony Moly Dear Me Waterful Lotion

Hello humans!

Today, we have a review of a light, daily moisturizer that’s great for sensitive skin throughout the year – Tony Moly’s Dear Me Waterful Lotion. Now, when you walk into the store and pick up this lotion, try VERY hard not to be offended by the sales associate. Why, you may ask? Well, they might say something like “It’s too young for your skin.” or “It’s only for teenagers.”

If they say that, just simply reply with “I have sensitive skin.”  I don’t think the SA is trying to offend you. My guess is that either a) they’re trying to promote their more expensive skincare lines to women 20+ since we have more money in our pockets… or b) they think that their Dear Me line is too basic for older skin. Even if the reason is b, I got my second bottle in the summer. Keep reading to find out why!

Formula: watery, fast absorption, lightweight, light fragrance

The light, watery texture, and fast absorption are reminiscent of Vichy’s Aqualia Thermal lotion. The only difference is that Dear Me Waterful Lotion is less fragranced and a little more watery.

I found Aqualia Thermal’s fragrance over-powering! It made me slightly nauseous if I applied it before eating (I’m being honest here, and not trying to purposely bash the product)! In contrast, Tony Moly’s lotion is lightly fragranced with such a pleasant scent. It also absorbs quickly, so that there’s no film left on your skin. This makes it great for sensitive skin, as it doesn’t block your pores!

Ingredients: Available on CosDNA

Price: $15 CAD

This is a great dupe for Vichy’s Aqualia Thermal lotion, which comes in at around $25. Not only is it cheaper, but there’s a lot more product. That’s what I love about Korean skincare products. They’re still good quality at an affordable price. 🙂

Packaging: Plastic bottle with a pump

The lotion comes in a sanitary plastic bottle with a pump. Unfortunately the cap is loose, so I wouldn’t recommend taking the entire container with you on travels. Instead, transfer some product into a smaller container. Another thing is that the pump doesn’t dispense all of the product once you start reaching the last inch of lotion.

Overall: 4.5/5

I love this lotion! Unlike North American drug store ones, I don’t have to pay a hefty price to get a quality, lightweight product. You also get quite a bit of product for its price (140mL). So I would definitely recommend that you check it out if you’re looking for a daily moisturizer.
